Steelers Win 12th Straight Over Browns

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been playing the Cleveland Browns for longer than any other team in the National Football League, dating back to 1950. And while it hasn’t been quite that long since the Cleveland Browns won a game against the Steelers it may be starting to feel like it. On Sunday, Pittsburgh won for the twelfth straight time dating back to 2003 as they topped Cleveland by a final score of 27-13.

The good news for NFL betting enthusiasts who took the +13′ with the Browns as a road underdog is that they managed to cover the pointspread by the slimmest of possible margins. Betting against the defending Superbowl champion is a long standing handicapping concept, and this season at least its worked like a charm-the Steelers have only covered one of their first six games. Cleveland, meanwhile, evened their NFL pointspread record at 3-3 on the season. The Browns have covered three straight after dropping their first three both straight up and against the spread. The 40 combined points went OVER the posted total of 37′. Pittsburgh has now gone OVER in four straight after starting the season with two UNDERs while the Browns evened their NFL totals mark at 3-3.

Pittsburgh dominated the game in virtually every statistical category. They amassed 28 first downs to 12 for Cleveland, held a 543 to 197 total yardage advantage and a 36:46 to 23:14 time of possession advantage. Both teams turned the ball over four times, and the Steelers led only 17-14 in the third quarter. Most of the post game talk from both sides was about a controversial spot in the first half where the Steelers were given a first down on a short yardage play when it appeared that they didn’t make the required yardage.

After the contest, Derek Anderson spoke of the frustration of continually coming up short against the Steelers. The Browns have only one once in ten games since Pittsburgh moved into their new home at Heinz Field:

„We’re not trying to lose every time we go out here. We put tons of hours in and … it’s frustrating. Every single week, it’s frustrating.“

Steelers‘ tight end Heath Miller said the team is happy to be where they are at this point despite not playing up to their standards:

„I think we haven’t played our best ball yet and that’s pretty comforting. We’ve gotten a few wins here without playing our best.“

The Steelers will host Brett Favre and the 6-0 Minnesota Vikings next Sunday. The Steelers are a -4 home favorite with the total set at 45. After a bye week, the Steelers will hit the road to play another undefeated team as they take on the Denver Broncos on Monday, November 9. Cleveland will host the Green Bay Packers this Sunday, with the Browns a +7 home underdog and the total set at 42′. They’ll head to ‚The Windy City‘ to face the Chicago Bears the following Sunday and then have a bye week.

Make Garden Decor from Stones

If the British, or the French, or the Italians like gardens, so do we; here, in the United States. We’re not obsessed with them and we don’t usually gossip about who has the best gardens, but we know how to maintain our gardens.

Though we don’t value these green places for the tea parties that we hold in them and though we do like a good, wide, and lush lawn for those barbecues that we love to have; there’s plenty to do to get a pretty garden. Now, there’s something that we sure do know how to do. We sure know how to make things pretty.

If your garden falls under the category of being small to modest in size; there are still a good number of things that you can do to make it more appealing. Why don’t you try to place it in a different light? You can do so with the help of garden decor. There’s absolutely no harm in trying and it comes with lots of fun.

For those gardens which begin in front the house and end where the lawn starts, why don’t you start with a special arrangement of thin stones with designs painted on their smooth surfaces? You can paint a whole bunch of things on these stones though this idea is freely given for you to use.

Take a flat stone, it could be white or black, and start painting the end parts of a bumblebee’s stripes. Continue with this pattern until you’ve finished with a set that will look like a bee when the stones are put together. When you’re done, put them in your garden in half circles like a necklace, from right to left.

You can have as many arrangements of bumblebee designed garden decor stones as you like. These painted stones should be used to improve a garden, not a lawn or yard! You’ll need either acrylic or spray paint for this project. You have to apply varnish on top of the stones, when you’re through. This way, they don’t get ruined by rain.

You can go anywhere with this, from one as simple as this bumblebee art; to ones like painted roses, daisies, pansies or other flowers; to even more complicated ones like paisley, lace doilies and marble.

Here’s another suggestion. If you’d like your garden decor stones to be extraordinary stand outs, then turn them into conversational pieces. Go to a shop that does photo transfers. Ask their technical staff to transfer prints of your favorite paintings by famous artists, from their computers to your flat stones. Don’t like paintings? You can choose your favorites from your picture albums and have these transferred, or pictures of famous personalities; anything that you’d like just as long as it follows a theme of your choice. You can even go without a specific theme.

While ordering photo transfers for your garden decor stone aren’t that expensive, they’re not cheap, either. If you’re willing to part with the extra cash for decorations that are really eye-catching, then go ahead. Spend, spend, spend, and keep your neighbors talking about your trendy garden.

UFC 92 Flashback: Mir Shocks Nogueira

Two titles changed hands at UFC 92, with Rashad Evans defeating Forrest Griffin by TKO to win the light heavyweight title and Frank Mir knocking out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira to claim the UFC interim heavyweight title.

While nominally taking subordinate status to the Evans/Griffin main event the most shocking result by far was Frank Mirs second round TKO stoppage of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Nogueira was the overwhelming favorite coming into the fight and had never been stopped inside the distance during a career where hed faced the best of the best: Fedor Emelianenko (three times), Josh Barnett (twice), Semmy Schilt and Mirko Cro Cop among many others. In the matchup to fill the Interim UFC title vacated by Randy Couture, Nogueira had absorbed a punching barrage from Tim Sylvia before gaining a submission victory.

Mir, meanwhile, had been on the verge of a full time move to the broadcast booth before his victory over WWE superstar turned MMA fighter Brock Lesnar. The conventional wisdom concerning Mir was that hed never fully recovered from a serious motorcycle accident in 2004 and that he was essentially a shot fighter physically, emotionally and psychologically. He eventually returned to the octagon, and after two TKO losses in his first three comeback fights began to consider the possibility that he just didnt have it any more.

When the fight against Brock Lesnar was signed, the perception among most fans was that Mir was a high profile setup for the former WWE champ“a big name on the downside of his career that would be physically overwhelmed by the strength and athleticism of his opponent. The expectation was that after a one-sided loss to Lesnar that Mir would transition into the next phase of his career as a broadcaster.

For the first minute of the fight, it looked like the above scenario was going to play out“Lesnar manhandled Mir from the opening horn, taking him down and landing punishing hammer fists on the ground. That was rendered irrelevant, however, when Lesnar made a rookie mistake and dangled his leg in easy reach of the BJJ blackbelt. Mir locked in a deep knee bar and Lesnar was forced to tap. Even with the submission victory, however, the perception was that Mir had gotten lucky when Lesnar made a rookie mistake.

There would be no such reprieve against Nogueira, according to many pundits, as he was too experienced and too good of a BJJ player in his own right to give Mir any such opportunities for a fluke submission. Mir entered the UFC 92 fight as decided underdog, meaning that oddsmakers and the betting public agreed that he had little chance to prevail in this matchup.

The fight was certainly one-sided, but it was Mir who was in control throughout. From the opening horn he demonstrated surprisingly sharp striking skills, and knocked Nogueira down twice in the first round.

Though Mir appeared in full control of the fight as the second round began, the end would come with startling suddenness and brutality. After a low kick attempt by Nogueira, Mirs counter tagged his opponent and he followed up with a big right hook that sent the Brazilian crashing to the canvas.

In the light heavyweight championship match, Forrest Griffin got off to a good start in his title defense by using his superior height and reach and an impressive array of kicks to keep Rashad Evans just out of range for two full rounds. That changed dramatically in the third, as a flash knockdown by the challenger gave him the opening he needed to mount Griffin and unleash a brutal ground and pound assault.

The most highly anticipated match on the undercard also featured a lopsided TKO finish as Quinton Rampage Jackson dominated Wanderlei Silva in the third fight between the two men. It was Jacksons first fight since his well publicized hit and run incident in Orange County, California and he looked very sharp throughout before bringing the contest to a close with a perfectly placed left hook to the cheekbone. Silva immediately collapsed to the canvas and the referee started to step in before he hit the ground.

UFC 88 Flashback: Evans Dominates ‚The Iceman‘

Rashad Evans didnt scream about demanding respect in his prefight interviews because hes smart enough to know that respect must be earned. He earned it and then some with a devastating 2nd round TKO of Chuck Liddell in the main event of UFC 88.

If Evans needed any more validation of how little respect he was getting, he could have taken a look at the UFCs text message prediction poll of the main event which favored The Iceman by a whopping 81% to 19% margin. Or he could have listened to the UFC announcers, who had all but penciled Liddell in for a return to light heavyweight title contention after his inevitable victory.

From the opening horn, Evans showed no fear of Liddells once legendary power. Instead, he danced and moved (which was dumbly criticized as showboating by the UFC announce team), using his slick footwork and speed to dart in and out of range of Liddells punches.

The end was to come in the 2nd round. Liddell backed Evans up near the cage wall and went to throw an uppercut. Simultaneously, Evans responded with an overhand right that landed quicker, harder and more accurately. The perfectly placed punch knocked Liddell out cold and referee Herb Dean jumped in to cover him up and wave off the fight without taking a second look.

Rashad Evans raised his record to 17-0-1 with the TKO victory. Liddell, meanwhile, saw his record drop to 21-6.

Liddells loss notwithstanding, it was a good night for UFC veterans as Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson won their fights in impressive fashion. Franklin looked particularly sharp in dismantling tough Matt Hamill, eventually prevailing by 3rd round TKO. Hamill had trouble getting inside for the takedown he needed to compete in the bout, and every time he closed the distance he was met with a barrage of Franklin punches and kicks.

This was the UFCs first trip to Atlanta and despite a good attendance the crowd itself was somewhat disappointing. In a marked contrast to the knowledgeable and enthusiastic fans at the Target Center in Minneapolis for UFC 87″arguably the best MMA crowd ever at a US venue“the live crowd at Phillips Arena often acted as if they were at a taping of Georgia Championship Wrestling. Every foreign fighter was booed mercilessly“including South Korean Kim. Kim was treated like legendary Gary Hart managed pro wrestling heel Pak Song as he had to endure a USA chant during his fight. Perhaps the audience didnt realize that South Korea has been a US ally since its establishment after WW II. The fighters from other longtime adversaries of the United States“Brazil and Holland“fared somewhat better.

More problematic was the crowds utter lack of respect for the fighters postfight. Poor Dong Hyun Kim was booed during his postfight interview like he was Professor Toru Takana cutting a heel promo on Mr. Wrestling 2 after winning the Georgia Heavyweight Title by throwing salt in his opponents eyes while the referee was distracted. Not quite the respect that a 4th degree judo black belt whod just won a very tough fight deserves. Even Rashad Evans was booed after his dominating KO victory.

Slimming Revealed – Tips To Lose 30 Pounds

Are you aware that our behaviour patterns very often reflect those of our friends? The theory is that we turn out to be very much like the individuals we hang around with. For the most part this is interpreted as we hold the same belief structure or values; we quite often support the same sports clubs and political parties as our friends, for instance.

Lately though, studies are claiming that we will have more tendency to be overweight if we hang around with others who are overweight. According to a recent news article, we have a tendency to consume more when eating with heavier people who we know well. A US research team looked at kids eating habits. They found that the heavier ones ate more when they were with their heavier pals than when they were with their slimmer friends.

Everyone in the group actually devoured more when they were in the company of friends, regardless of their size. But pairing up overweight friends led to the biggest consumption of all. The study was undertaken by researchers from the State University of New York at Buffalo. It highlighted the role friends play in influencing how much youngsters eat.

Candidly it’s no great revelation that many ate more when in the company of friends. That would doubtless be the same if adults had been surveyed. What’s more, as our friends don’t usually challenge what we do, we assume that means they condone our behaviour. Subconsciously we’re placing the permission ball in someone else’s court.

The researchers observed a whole mix of young people for this study. They were split into groups of two friends, or groups of two strangers. All were furnished with nibbles, fruit and vegetables. They also had various games to keep them occupied.

All the ones who teamed up with a friend ate a larger amount than the rest. However it was the pairs who were both overweight who consumed the most in total. And the variations were considerable, as shown below.

Nearly seven hundred and fifty calories per person was consumed by the larger pairs of friends. Heavy kids with standard weight chums ate just under 450 cals, and standard weight kids ate approx 500 cals whatever weight their mate was. This influence extends to smoking and drinking as well with young teens.

A child’s social network then is significant in determining their eating habits. What this means is kids can be influenced to eat less as well as more. Hence the necessity to educate the young.

Search Engine Optimisation Revealed

SEO is essentially a constantly evolving study of what factors the search engines take into account when they ‚rank‘ you in their natural search listings. Natural or ‚organic‘ lists form the main body of a SE page. Paid listings are separate to natural listings. The paid listings are typically in a yellow section at the top of the page, and in a column down the right hand side. The ’natural‘ listings are straight from the main index. They show sites listed in the order of importance and relevance – according to their algorithm.

Plainly our aim is to get our site up with the top ones. We’ve little chance of being seen if we’re way down the list on page 7. Only those in the Search Engine’s ‚inner circle‘ know all the factors used to position sites. It isn’t something they publicise to the rest of us!

As a result, we now have a very skilled bunch of professionals focused on optimisation. On the Search Engine side you have upgraded technological patents being regularly filed. (To cause as much uncertainty as possible!) On the other hand, there’s Search Engine Optimisation. This utilises a series of tests and measurements to determine the most pertinent factors.

Search Engine Optimisation deals with both on-page and off-page issues. A certain amount of page ranking weight can be attributed to off web geographic influences. SEO can’t control these though. (We will cover off page optimisation in a separate article.)

‚On-Page‘ SEO

Making changes directly to website pages to make them more Search Engine friendly is what On-Page SEO is all about. This website configuration is fairly simple. It involves such factors as – Internal-linking, using H1 & H2 header tags, seeding keywords at the correct density (and in appropriate places,) and to some lesser degree, using meta-tags.

It doesn’t matter if all that sounds very confusing. In reality, this is very easy to control, but not wildly effective. Indeed, it could be said to basically not have much influence at all. Previously we could make an impact with On Page configurations. Not any longer though.

The only time that ‚on-page‘ becomes important is when you have taken care of ‚off-page‘ and have a lot of inbound ‚back-links‘. At that stage, Internal Linking and some On Page manipulation can be beneficial.

A Bit of Advice… A phrase that shows vast numbers of results should not be your first SEO target. For instance, if you typed into a Search Engine the term Car insurance, seventy million results would be listed for the UK alone. It’s not rocket science to realise that competing in this area wouldn’t be productive.

Although… When I search for „Southampton Car Insurance“, it comes down to a more manageable 300K. (If car insurance in Southampton was my business!) A big number still it seems – but actually quite a small number when it comes to web searches.

The extended phrase makes all the difference. In reality, getting ranked for car insurance would cost a fortune! The competition would be fierce. Not a sensible option for anyone.

A precise description is much more valuable to us. They’re known as long tail searches, because they’ll have several keywords. If your market’s very competitive, you could be selecting seven word phrases. They’re usually around three or four.

We normally recommend performing SEO on phrases that return less than half a million results at the start. (In some cases, we may go with a higher count – if the current page 1 results are not well SEO’d.) In time our back links will grow. Then we’ll get a better rating on some of the bigger yielding phrases. If we put in enough effort, we can go after those big phrases in 3-12 months time. This line of attack starts with more focus. We’re after the people who are really looking to buy, so we go for phrases that convert well.

You should also build back links to various different pages – and not just your website’s homepage. The Search Engines like this – especially Google. A good example would be product group or category pages. It’s worth driving specific search terms to these pages – they often have links to lots of other product pages. Do not simply build links to your website’s home page. The SE’s are becoming increasingly interested in how a site’s individual pages are listed.

Selecting A Web Design Course – Options

If you’re considering being a web designer, find a course in Adobe Dreamweaver. To facilitate Dreamweaver commercially in web design, an in-depth understanding of the whole Adobe Web Creative Suite (which includes Flash and Action Script) is without doubt a bonus. Having this knowledge will mean, you might lead on to becoming an ACP (Adobe Certified Professional) or an ACE (Adobe Certified Expert).

Having knowledge of how to construct a website is simply the first base. Driving traffic, maintaining content and knowledge of some programming essentials should come next. Consider training programmes with additional features that include these skills maybe PHP, HTML, and MySQL, in addition to E-Commerce and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) skills.

Don’t put too much store, as can often be the case, on the certification itself. Training is not an end in itself; you should be geared towards the actual job at the end of it. Stay focused on what it is you want to achieve. Students often train for a single year but end up doing the job for 20 years. Don’t make the error of choosing what sounds like a program of interest to you only to spend 20 years doing a job you don’t like!

Take time to understand how you feel about career development, earning potential, and whether you intend to be quite ambitious. It makes sense to understand what (if any) sacrifices you’ll need to make for a particular role, what particular accreditations they want you to have and where you’ll pick-up experience from. Prior to embarking on a particular training course, trainees are advised to talk through specific market needs with an experienced advisor, so as to be sure the training program covers all the bases.

Searching for your first position in IT can feel more straightforward if you’re supported with a Job Placement Assistance service. At the end of the day it’s not as hard as some people make out to find employment – as long as you’ve got the necessary skills and qualifications; the growing UK skills shortage sees to that.

CV and Interview advice and support may be available (alternatively, check out one of our sites for help). Make sure you bring your CV right up to date straight away – not after you’ve qualified! It’s not uncommon to find that junior support roles have been bagged by students who are in the process of training and haven’t even passed a single exam yet. This will at the very least get your CV into the ‚possible‘ pile and not the ’no‘ pile. The top companies to help you find a job are generally specialist locally based employment services. As they’re keen to place you to receive their commission, they’re perhaps more focused on results.

In a nutshell, if you put as much hard work into securing a position as into training, you won’t have any problems. A number of students bizarrely invest a great deal of time on their training course and then call a halt once certified and seem to expect employers to find them.

Only consider study programmes that’ll move onto industry recognised accreditations. There’s an endless list of small companies pushing minor ‚in-house‘ certificates which will prove unusable in the real world. Only nationally recognised examinations from the major players like Microsoft, Cisco, Adobe and CompTIA will open the doors to employers.

How can job security really exist anymore? Here in the UK, where business constantly changes its mind on a day-to-day basis, it seems increasingly unlikely. Security can now only exist through a rapidly increasing market, fuelled by a lack of trained workers. These circumstances create the right setting for market-security – a more attractive situation all round.

The IT skills-gap across Great Britain falls in at just over twenty six percent, as reported by the 2006 e-Skills investigation. Showing that for every four jobs that are available throughout computing, we’ve only got three properly trained pro’s to perform that task. This fundamental reality reveals the urgent need for more properly trained computing professionals throughout the country. As the Information Technology market is developing at such a quick pace, there really isn’t any other area of industry worth taking into account for your new career.

Commercial qualifications are now, without a doubt, taking over from the traditional routes into the industry – but why is this the case? With a growing demand for specific technological expertise, industry has of necessity moved to specific, honed-in training that can only be obtained from the actual vendors – in other words companies like Microsoft, CISCO, Adobe and CompTIA. This frequently provides reductions in both cost and time. Many degrees, as a example, can often get caught up in a great deal of background study – with a syllabus that’s far too wide. Students are then prevented from getting enough specific knowledge about the core essentials.

Just as the old advertisement said: ‚It does what it says on the label‘. All an employer has to do is know what they need doing, and then match up the appropriate exam numbers as a requirement. They’ll know then that all applicants can do what they need.

Why You Should Consider A Small Tattoo

If you are planning to get a tattoo, you might feel overwhelmed with all the available options. There are thousands of designs that you can choose from. One design could have several variations and you have to choose which one is the best for you.

On option may be to get a temporary tattoo first and see if you like the design. Make sure you keep a picture of the tattoo. If the size, location and design of the temporary tattoo work for you, you can have a permanent tattoo applied. This may not be possible with tattoos that cover large areas like sleeve tattoos. Temporary tattoos are usually fairly small.

While temporaries are not practical for large tattoos, they are a great way to experiment with size, theme and location for small tattoos. You may try several before you make your final decision.

Since these tattoos are small, you can easily hide them with your sleeves or pants or anything. This is very convenient especially if you will go to a formal event or meeting, like a job interview or a conference where having a tattoo is bad for your image as a responsible and hardworking employee.

Small tattoos can usually be completed in one sitting. Larger tattoos, especially those done in several colors, usually take several appointments. They are also a lot more costly than small tattoos. If cost is a serious consideration, you can get a small tattoo that can later be incorporated into a larger design if you wish. Discuss this option with your tattoo artist.

Tattoos are considered permanent although they can be removed by a cosmetic surgeon with the use of a surgical laser. If you have a tattoo removed, it may leave a scar, or an area of skin with light pigmentation. A small tattoo is easier to remove than a large tattoo. The procedure to remove a large tattoo may also take several appointments.

The one disadvantage of small tattoos is their tendency to fade over time. Larger tattoos fade less than small ones. Never rub you tattoo or use body scrub type cleansers on it. Be sure to pay attention to your artist’s instructions for caring for your tattoo.

While the location of large tattoos may be limited to certain areas of the body due to their size, small tattoos can be placed almost anywhere on the body. Many women like a dragonfly or flower design on their wrist or above the ankle bone. Some people like to use the back of their neck.

Popular designs include oriental symbols and characters, zodiac signs, flowers, insects, cartoon characters and religious symbols. Celtic knot work may be used as a ring around the fingers. It is important to choose the right design and location because this design will be with you as long as you live. don’t select a design you may not be happy with in a few years.

It is also easy to put several small tattoos all over your body. You can have one on your finger, one on your inner wrist, another at the back of your neck, and in other places but still they will not be so obvious, unlike if you have several big tattoos.

Weight Loss Diets Simplified – How To Lose 20 Pounds

A good weight loss programme can be put in place simply by keeping a food diary. Begin by consuming your regular diet for seven days. Write down everything you eat and drink (be honest!) throughout the day. When a week has passed, analyse the contents of your diary. Try to identify any patterns where poor food choices are more evident.

Obviously, if there are several take-aways and other high fat foods, cutting those out would be a start. But if that’s not the case, and what you’re eating looks OK, then just reduce the amount. Either way, use your food diary as the basis for the changes you wish to make.

Then take the next seven days and write down exactly what you’re going to stick to. Think of what you’re going to eat and drink, and what exercise you want to include. Where food is categorised, create a list of prohibited food and ‚treat‘ food. And then write down the food you can eat in generous amounts.

As far as alcohol is concerned, keep it to a minimum. Write down when it’s not allowed, and when and how much it is allowed. Cans of soft drinks containing sugar are out. Next comes physical exercise, and whether it’s a walk in the park, or visits to the gym – write it down.

Get on the scales just before you’re about to start your program. Then repeat the process each week. If necessary, modify parts of the plan for better results. Don’t be tempted to weigh yourself too often – once every week at the same time is sufficient.

A plan such as this will allow you to manage your weight loss programme and adjust it to suit yourself. Make comments as you go – keep the diary as a working document. Also enter the exercise you’re doing, to make sure this isn’t getting left out. A diary is a very simple way to monitor your progress – and a remarkable tool for staying with the program!

Do keep your expectations reasonable though. At first, it seems to be all effort and no reward! Patience and perseverance are everything. Keeping up your motivation is sometimes tough, so try to dwell on the end result and the joy it will bring!

If you lose your way for a short while, try to get back on track quickly. It could be that you should look at altering your diet. There are some relatively easy ways to introduce more exercise. A thirty minute routine three times a week is a good habit to get into.

Feel good about every pound you lose. Quantifying the results you achieve makes dieting a great deal easier to maintain long-term. You may not want to splash out on clothes until all the weight has come off. But you could spoil yourself with a pamper session when you reach a mini-goal.
