Samsung LN32C530: My First Impressions

I bought the Samsung LN32C530 about a month a go and figured I’d express my initial opinions with regard to the advantages and disadvantages of the unit. I can report that I have, in general, been happy with the Samsung LN32C530 besides two or three problems more to do with me than the TV.

Positives – The picture is fantastic, my friends own Vizios from 2008 which range between 26″ up to 46″ and in comparison, they are darker and unsaturated in contrast to this unit from Samsung. 720p/1080i or downcoverted 1080p looks outstanding, the picture quality at 1366×768 would seem clearer, brighter and more vibrant than other inexpensive 32 inch 1080p units I have come across. You can only notice jagged edge pixels when you sit under two feet away from the screen. Which, with a television of this size, is definitely far too close. I sit 6 feet away. Edges are smooth, OTA Hi-def with bunny ears antenna would seem to be flawless.

Upconverted 480p content material seems to be outstanding for it’s format. The actual quantity of choices to try out with are great. But, even so, this Television looked really good on default settings. This TV has various sound configurations like Movie and Clear voice settings. Incidentally, the speakers are hidden and loud, I set it to to 6-7 volume (out of 50) with the Playstation 3, 8-10 when watching TV. The Samsung LN32C530 has very good sound quality for it’s wattage.

Negative aspects- 8ms refresh rate, many may not notice but, going from a CRT (SD) to an LCD (HD), it’s expected. In games it’s not detectable but, when viewing things like scrolling text it is apparent, but, this could be associated with it being 60hz. Another thing is that it’s actually not legitimate 1080p .However 1080p content itself is visually great , when it is displayed at 1366×768.Obviously, this may be a very subjective detail. From 6 feet away, 1080p and 1080i/720p look similar on a 32″. But, in order to future proof yourself, grab the SamsungLN32C530.

Lastly, with regard to peripherals, the stand is okay but, you might have to tighten the screws until they stop turning to make it stable.
